Sentence connectors এর অপর নাম হচ্ছে Linking words. যার সংজ্ঞায় বলা হয়েছে, “Sentence connectors are used to link ideas when writing. They enable the writing to flow from one idea to the next in a logical and cohesive way.” অর্থাৎ, লেখার সময় বিভিন্ন ideas বা বক্তব্যকে যুক্ত করার জন্য Sentence connectors ব্যবহৃত হয়। এরা লেখাটিকে একটি বক্তব্য থেকে অন্য বক্তব্যে যুক্তিসঙ্গতভাবে ও অখন্ডভাবে যেতে সাহায্য করে। এই মন্তব্যটি বিশ্লেষণ করলে দুটি বিষয় উঠে আসে। 1. Sentence connectors ব্যবহৃত হয় লেখার জন্যে । 2. Sentence connectors এর কাজ একাধিক বক্তব্যকে যুক্তিসঙ্গতভাবে যুক্ত করা যাতে লেখাটির মধ্যে বিভিন্ন বক্তব্য থাকা সত্বেও তা অখন্ড থাকে।যেমনঃ Jerry refused to take money for repairing the axe handle.
