Question tags
According to Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary ‘Tag’ is a word or phrase that is added to a sentence for emphasis.
তাহলে ‘tag Question’ মানে এমন Question যা কোন sentence এর সাথে যুক্ত হয় এবং তার বক্তব্যকে আরো জোরালো করে। যেমনঃ
He is here, isn’t he?
এখানে isn’t he? একটি Question, তথাপি listener এর কাছে এ Question এর জবাব চাওয়া হচ্ছেনা। বরং He is here বক্তব্যকে আরো জোরালো করতে isn’t he? tag টি যোগ করা হয়েছে।
আসলে Question tag হচ্ছে

3. Main clause এর main verb ‘Be’ (am, is, are, was, were) হলে ‘Be’ই হবে tag এর auxiliary verbঃ

4. আবার Main clause এর main verb ‘Have’ (have, has, had) হলে ‘do/does/did’ হবে tag এর auxiliary verbঃ

5. Positive statement + negative tag:
