Formation of verb

                         

Noun to Verb  

a. Suffix/prefix plus:

i. en + noun : courage→ encourage, danger → endanger

ii. em + noun:  power→ empower,

iii. noun + ify : class → classify 

b. Suffix minus:

যে সমস্ত noun এর গঠন verb + suffix তাদের সাথে যুক্ত suffix বাদ দিলে আবার verb গঠিত হয়। যেমনঃ 

payment→  pay    correction → correct 

discussion→ discuss     performance→perform 

building→      build          driver  →               drive 

actor→          act                inhabitant→   inhabit 

payee→        pay              information→ inform

 refusal→     refuse                 proposal→ propose

 carriage→   carry

c. conversion :

noun এর বাহ্যিক পরিবর্তন না করে  verb  হিসেবে ব্যবহার। যেমনঃ   

cost (n) – দাম →  cost (v) – দাম হওয়া 

watch (n) –ঘড়ি/পাহারা →          watch (v) –দেখা

 help (n) – সাহায্য →           help (v) –  সাহায্য করা

walk (n) – হাটা হাটি →        walk (v) – হাটা

work (n) – কাজ →              work (v) – কাজ করা

hope (n) – আশা →              hope (v) – আশা করা

delay (n) – দেরি →             delay (v) – দেরি করা     

d. vowel change:

কিছু noun এর vowel change করে verb তৈরী করা যায়। যেমনঃ 

blood→ bleed            food → feed

sale→ sell                  shot→ shoot 

song→ sing                 seat→ sit 

tale→ tell

e. Consonant change:

কিছু noun এর consonant change করে verb তৈরী করা যায়। যেমনঃ 

belief → believe, advice→ advise, proof→ prove, speech→ speak

                    Adjective to Verb

a. Suffix plus:

i. adjective + ize/ise:

modern→ modernize

 popular → popularize

 private → privatize

ii. adjective + en : 

short → shorten

 wide → widen

 hard → harden

iii. adjective + ify:

simple → simplify

 clear → clarify

 false → falsify

b. Suffix minus:

যে সমস্ত adjective এর গঠন verb + suffix তাদের সাথে যুক্ত  suffix বাদ দিলে আবার verb গঠিত হয়। যেমনঃ

active→act                         informative→inform

eatable →eat                      acceptable→accept

comprehensible→ comprehend    exciting→excite

fascinating→fascinate various→vary continuous→continue 

Verb3→v1 :

excited→excite     

broken→break 

       

c. conversion:

last (adj)- শেষ→ last(v)- স্থায়ি হওয়া

fast (adj) - দ্রুতগামি→ fast(v)- রোজা রাখা

better(adj)- ভাল→ better-(v) উন্নয়ন করা
