Formation of noun

 

Verb to Noun

a. Suffix plus:

i. verb + ment: payment, movement, government, arrangement, development

ii. verb+ion/tion/ation/ition: correction, discussion, production, information, addition

iii. verb with d/t – d/t+ sion: decide → decision, permit → permission   

iv. verb + ance/ence: performance, acceptance, existence, preference

v.  verb + ing : building, feeling, writing

vi. verb + er/ or: driver, actor, operator   

vii. verb + ant/ent: inhabitant, assistant, respondent

viii. verb + ee: payee, employee

ix . verb + ation: information, exploration

x. verb + al : refusal, proposal, approval

xi. verb + age : carriage, marriage

xii. verb + ure : failure

b. Suffix/prefix minus: যে সমস্ত verb এর গঠন prefix + noun   অথবা noun + suffix তাদের সাথে যুক্ত prefix বা suffix বাদ দিলে আবার noun গঠিত হয়। যেমনঃ  

 endanger – verb →   danger – noun, empower – verb → power – noun,  classify → class

c. conversion : verb এর বাহ্যিক পরিবর্তন না করে noun হিসেবে ব্যবহার। যেমনঃ  

cost (v) – দাম হওয়া → cost (n) – দাম  

watch (v) – দেখা →   watch  (n) – ঘড়ি/পাহারা  

help (v) সাহায্য করা → help (n)  –  সাহায্য

walk (v) – হাটা →  walk (n) – হাটা হাটি

work (v) – কাজ করা → work (n) – কাজ

hope (v) – আশা করা → hope (n) – আশা

delay (v) – দেরি করা → delay (n) – দেরি     

       

d. vowel change: কিছু verbএর vowel change করে noun তৈরী করা যায়। যেমনঃ 

bleed→ blood, feed → food, sell→ sale, shoot→ shot, sing→ song, sit→ seat, tell→ tale

e. Consonant change: কিছু verb এর consonant change করে noun তৈরী করা যায়। যেমনঃ

believe → belief, advise→ advice, prove→ proof, speak → speech

Adjective to Noun

a. Suffix plus:

i. Adj + ness: happy→ happiness, ill → illness,good → goodness, helpless → helplessness

ii. Adj + ty/ity: certain→ certainty, stupid → stupidity, national → nationality

iii. Adj + th: wide → width, broad→ breadth, long → length, strong → strength

iv. Adj with `nt’ → nce: silent → silence, absent → absence, distant → distance

b. Suffix minus:  যে সমস্ত Adjective এর গঠন  noun + suffix তাদের সাথে যুক্ত suffix বাদ দিলে আবার noun গঠিত হয়। যেমনঃ  

  Adjective                              Noun 

  beautiful             →              beauty

 helpless               →                  help

salty                     →                    salt

dangerous            →               danger

moneyed             →                money

c. conversion : Adjective এর বাহ্যিক পরিবর্তন না করে noun হিসেবে ব্যবহার। যেমনঃ 

Adjective                              Noun 

fine (adj) - সুন্দর     →         fine (n) জরিমানা 

good (adj) - ভাল     →         goods (n) -পণ্য 

head (adj) - প্রধান   →           head (n) - মাথা

Adverb to Noun

a. Suffix plus: Adverb কে noun বানানোর জন্য Adverb টির সাথে কোন suffixযোগ করা যায়না। তাই Adverb টিকে প্রথমে adjective এ রুপান্তর করে নিতে হয়। তারপর উক্ত adjective কে noun এ রুপান্তর করতে হয়। সংক্ষেপে নিয়মটি হলো-

Adverb        → adjective   →  noun:

widely         → wide          → width

dangerously→dangerous → danger

 fast             → fast          → fastness

b. Suffix minus: যেসব  Adverb এর গঠন  noun + suffix + suffix,  তাদের থেকে সব  suffix বাদ দিলে  Adverb টি আবার  noun এ ফিরে আসে। অর্থাৎ নিয়মটি হলোঃ 

Adverb -              suffix -  suffix =           noun:

beautifully→    beautiful    →            beauty(n) interestingly→interesting→              interest(n)

 c. conversion: Adverb এর বাহ্যিক পরিবর্তন না করে noun হিসেবে ব্যবহার। যেমনঃ

today, yesterday, home
