Primary auxiliary verbs

ইংরেজিতে Primary auxiliary verb তিনটি – i. be ii. have and iii. do এদের ব্যবহার নিম্নরুপঃ

i. Be Continuous tenses: He is writing. – present continuous You were reading. -past continuous They will be playing.  -future continuous

ii. Have perfect and perfect continuous tenses:  I have taken breakfast. -present perfect Ria has been reading.-present perfect cont.

iii. Do Interrogative and negative sentences of present and past indefinite tenses:

Do you know the man? – Int.present

I don’t like gossiping. Negative

Did they come here? -Int.Past

She did not answer. Negative

এই তিনটি verb এর একটি বিশেষ বৈশিষ্ট্য হচ্ছে যে, এরা auxiliary এবং principal উভয় প্রকার verb হতে পারে। যেমনঃ

Be:

a. He is reading.(Auxiliary) He is a student. (principal)

Have:

b. He has finished his home work.(Auxiliary) He has a dog. (principal)

Do:

c. He does not work. (Auxiliary) He did his home work. (principal)
